Her class ring from the local Catholic high school, St. Vincent, has a small Miraculous Medal inlay. “It’s a reminder,” like her wedding ring, she says. “I am proud to be married. I am proud to be Catholic.” Every Sunday evening the Hotops have an hour reserved in this chapel for their family to complete adoration. Kim describes it as their quiet time to talk to God.</image:caption>

Jared and Kim want their children to have an education more steeped in Creationism and Catholic theology than the local Catholic school offers. “The science could still have evolution in it,” Kim says, referring to the local Catholic school. <image:caption>Back in the 1950s and ’60s, more than 4,000 drive-ins operated across the country, but many have disappeared. Now, there are fewer than 400, but the Holiday Drive-In in Reo — the Spencer County throwback with its five screens — marches on. Eric and Sally Reinhart of Caneyville, Ky., watched “Suicide Squad” with Sally’s children — Bryson, 14, Hannah, 10, and Camron Conner, 13 — at the Holiday Drive-In in Reo on Aug. 12. The family arrived early to get a front-row seat. Two movies play on each of the five screen throughout the night so patrons can switch screens after the first movie or stay put for the next show. Viewers listen to the audio on portable radios and car radios.</image:caption>
